Connect your WordPress site to Auto-SEO in two clicks so your weekly SEO articles publish automatically. No passwords shared.

== Description ==

Auto-SEO (https://auto-seo.co.uk) researches, writes and publishes a question-led SEO article to your website every week, builds links to it, and shows you rankings, AI visibility and a Google heat map in one dashboard.

This plugin is the connector. Install it, click **Connect to Auto-SEO**, approve the site in your Auto-SEO account, and every approved article publishes here automatically with its featured image, category and meta description (Yoast, Rank Math and All in One SEO supported). Images are copied into your media library; nothing hotlinks.

* No application passwords, no shared logins: the plugin uses its own token-secured endpoint that only Auto-SEO can call, and you can disconnect at any time.
* Daily health check so Auto-SEO knows immediately if publishing stops working.
* Idempotent publishing: an article is never duplicated if it is sent twice.
* A small dashboard widget showing how many Auto-SEO articles are live.
* Site changes on request: Auto-SEO can add or update a page, rename, hide or add menu items, and switch on a contact form or a first-visit welcome popup, so small changes you ask for need no WordPress login. Every change is listed in Settings > Auto-SEO Connect > Change log with an Undo button, and you can switch site changes off at any time.

You need an Auto-SEO account. New customers can start with a £1 trial: the first article written and published to your site, plus a Google heat map of where your business shows in local search.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin folder to `/wp-content/plugins/` or install it from Plugins → Add New.
2. Activate it.
3. Go to Settings → Auto-SEO Connect and click **Connect to Auto-SEO**.
4. Sign in to your Auto-SEO account and click **Approve**. Done.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does Auto-SEO get my WordPress password? =
No. The plugin creates a random token that only allows creating and updating posts through its own endpoint. You can regenerate it by disconnecting.

= What if my security plugin blocks the REST API? =
Allow requests to `/wp-json/autoseo/v1/` from the Auto-SEO server (198.38.92.6). The settings page tells you if the REST API looks blocked.

= What can Auto-SEO change on my site? =
Only what the plugin allows, and only when you ask: posts it publishes, pages, menu labels (shown differently, your menus themselves are not edited), a contact form, a welcome popup, and your site title and tagline. It cannot install code, upload files, change users or passwords, or read other settings. Every change is logged with an Undo button, and you can switch site changes off under Settings > Auto-SEO Connect.

= Can I edit the articles? =
Yes. They are normal posts. Edit, reschedule or delete them like any other post.

== Changelog ==

= 1.3.1 =
* Welcome popup: new "stay until closed" option. When it is switched on, the popup shows on each page a visitor opens until they close it or sign up, instead of only once. Closing it (the X, "No thanks", the Escape key or a click outside) hides it for 30 days; signing up hides it for a year.
* Welcome popup: a visible "No thanks" link under the button.
* Fix: the Plugins screen no longer shows "update available" for a version that is already installed.

= 1.3.0 =
* Site changes on request: pages (draft or published), menu labels (rename, hide or add an item, applied when the menu is shown, so your menus are not edited), a spam-protected contact form and a first-visit welcome popup. Configured by Auto-SEO with settings only: no code is ever uploaded to your site.
* Change log under Settings > Auto-SEO Connect with one-click Undo for every change, and a switch to turn site changes off.
* Contact form messages and popup sign-ups are emailed to you (reply goes straight to the visitor) and kept under Site messages, with a CSV export.
* Fix: the connection is now confirmed by the first call from Auto-SEO, so the daily health check runs even if the browser never returned to WordPress after approving.
* "View details" on the Plugins screen now shows these release notes.

= 1.2.0 =
* Serves /llms.txt (llmstxt.org) built from your site name, tagline, key pages and the articles published here, so AI search engines can read a plain-text summary of your site. Toggle in Settings > Auto-SEO Connect (on by default).
* Article and FAQ structured data now arrives from Auto-SEO as its own field, built at publish time with the final URL, dates and image. Article is left to Yoast SEO / Rank Math when active; FAQPage is always printed.

= 1.1.0 =
* Article schema (Article, FAQ and breadcrumb structured data) is now kept and added to the page head, so WordPress no longer strips it out.
* Works for articles published with the plugin and with an Application Password.
* Skips its own Article and breadcrumb markup when Yoast or Rank Math already provide them, so nothing is duplicated.
* Plugin updates now appear in your WordPress dashboard.

= 1.0.0 =
* First release: connect flow, publish endpoint, featured images, categories, SEO meta, daily health ping, dashboard widget.
